The Role
The firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its Houston team.
The position is 100% litigation and 100% defense, with a broad insurance defense caseload and particular exposure to first-party property matters.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing insurance defense matters from inception through resolution
- Handling first-party property and coverage-related disputes
- Developing litigation and settlement strategy
- Drafting pleadings, motions and written discovery
- Taking and defending depositions
- Evaluating liability, damages and exposure
- Working directly with insurers and commercial clients
- Negotiating settlements
- Preparing matters for mediation and trial
Salary and Benefits
- Base Salary: $130,000–$200,000 depending on experience
- Origination: 15%
- Location: Houston / Kingwood, Texas
- Working Arrangement: Hybrid, typically 3 days per week in office
- Remote Flexibility: May be considered for a sufficiently experienced attorney
Looking For
- Approximately 5–7 years of general insurance defense experience
- Admitted to the Texas Bar
- Strong civil litigation background
- First-party property insurance experience highly desirable
- Property claims experience advantageous
