The Legal Assistant will support Osage Nation Child Support Services by assisting in the preparation and organization of legal documents in coordination with the program attorney. This position is responsible for compiling and maintaining accurate documentation for child support cases, preparing upcoming court dockets, and ensuring all legal aspects of each case are thoroughly addressed and ready for hearing. The Legal Assistant plays a key role in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the legal process within the Child Support program.
Completion of a secondary or vocational paralegal training program required; Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Political Science, Sociology, or a related field preferred
Or, a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience performing comparable legal support duties in an accredited law firm
Knowledge of Oklahoma law and court procedures
Ability to acquire and apply knowledge of Osage Nation Code and court procedures
Experience in working civil law
Proficiency in preparing civil pleadings and legal documents
Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to speak effectively in small group settings
Professional demeanor and appearance that reflects positively on the Osage Nation
High level of personal integrity, ethics, and accountability
Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance that positively represents the Nation
Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills
Strict adherence to confidentiality requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions
Must successfully pass a criminal background check
Must successfully pass drug/alcohol testing
Must have a clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles
