A well-regarded firm situated in Wilmette, specializing in the management and ownership of both multi-unit residential and commercial properties, is in search of a dedicated in-house counsel. This individual will take on the primary role of overseeing and managing all legal affairs related to the properties overseen by the firm.
Qualifications/Skills
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a recognized law school, with 3 to 5 years of experience in general legal practice as well as litigation.
Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois, and additionally must be licensed or eligible to obtain a license in the Northern District of Illinois.
Demonstrated experience in drafting legal documents, responding to various pleadings, conducting discovery procedures, taking depositions, and participating in trial cases.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in class action defense, handling discrimination claims, and dealing with construction-related litigation.
Opportunity to collaborate with an accomplished in-house property tax department specializing in the preparation of pleadings for diverse property tax entities.
Responsibilities
Manage and litigate all relevant legal matters for property owners, ensuring their interests are well-protected.
Supervise property tax appeal processes alongside a knowledgeable team.
Handle eviction legalities with efficiency and professionalism.
Evaluate and formulate contracts, leases, and other legal agreements.
In addition, the attorney will assist external counsel appointed by insurance firms as needed.
