Role Description
This is a part-time role that can lead to a full-time position for an Immigration Paralegal based in Coral Gables, FL, with the flexibility for some remote work. The Immigration Paralegal will assist with preparing and filing legal documents, conducting research on immigration matters, and supporting attorneys in drafting and submitting petitions, applications, and correspondence. The candidate will serve as a point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and timely updates. The role requires a self-directed professional who can take ownership of assigned tasks and see them through to completion with minimal supervision, while remaining responsive to the direction and priorities set by the lead attorney. Excellent organizational skills and a solid command of immigration law and procedures are essential.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in U.S. immigration law, including direct familiarity with visa categories, removal proceedings, adjustment of status, and related legal processes — candidates without demonstrated immigration-specific experience will not be considered
- Proven ability to work independently once a task is assigned, managing files, deadlines, and client communications without the need for step-by-step oversight, while operating effectively under the direction of the lead attorney when guidance is provided
- Proficiency in legal document preparation, including petitions, applications, and correspondence across a range of immigration matters
- Strong research skills with the ability to identify relevant legal authority and procedural requirements to support case preparation
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously
- Detail-oriented and deadline-driven, with a professional and client-focused demeanor
- Experience in a law firm environment is a plus
- Bachelor's degree or paralegal certification preferred
- Proficiency in Spanish or another language is a significant advantage
