The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI) is an investigative office within the New York State Department of Health’s Division of Nutrition. This position involves responsibilities related to reviewing of vendor applications for participation in the New York State Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). The duties include conducting new vendor background checks, assisting with field investigations and hearing preparations. The role also involves reviewing WIC vendor application documents and contracts to ensure completeness with Vendor Management Agencies (VMA). Additional responsibilities include verifying the validity of Food Stamp Authorization Numbers and performing credit checks. The candidate must ensure the vendor applicants comply with requirements from other State Agencies. They will provide programmatic, technical, and investigative assistance to management, supervisory personnel and field staff. Other tasks include conducting internet research and identifying additional sources of information for investigative purposes and technical support.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications NY HELPS: Trainee 1: A bachelor’s degree or higher.Trainee 2: A bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in the administration, supervision and oversight of agency programs including the design, implementation, administration, management, operation, and assessment of program effectiveness. A Juris Doctor, master’s or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience.Grade 18: A bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in the administration, supervision and oversight of agency programs including the design, implementation, administration, management, operation, and assessment of program effectiveness. A Juris Doctor, master’s or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience. Reassignment: Current NYS Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Health Program Administrator, Grade 18.Transfer: Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to transfer to a Health Program Administrator, Grade 18. Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate should have progressively responsible professional work experience in the administrative support of an investigative office with excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills and a strong command of prioritization that supports efficient office operations. The candidate should have the ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
