Job Summary

In search of an Immigration Associate Attorney for a hybrid in-person/remote position. Our offices are in Brooklyn (11229) and lower Manhattan for in-person days.

Requirements:

  • Admitted to practice in New York State
  • 2+ years of immigration law attorney experience or similar litigation
  • Experience handling removal defense and appearing in Immigration Court
  • Russian language skills are a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Managing a caseload of new/incoming and pending USCIS and consular immigration matters, including VAWA, family petitions, asylum, waivers, T visas, and cancellation of removal
  • Preparing for and attending USCIS asylum, VAWA, and family-based interviews
  • Preparing for and attending Master Calendar Hearings and Individual Hearings
  • Drafting Motions to Reopen, Motions to Terminate, Motions for Continuance, and other EOIR filings
  • Advise clients on various immigration processes, including visas, green cards, asylum, naturalization, and deportation defense
  • Prepare and review legal documents such as petitions, applications, affidavits, and supporting evidence
  • Conduct legal research using tools like LexisNexis and Westlaw to stay current on immigration laws and policies
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, administrative hearings, and depositions related to immigration cases
  • Develop case strategies through thorough trial preparation and procedural law application
  • Negotiate with government agencies and other parties to facilitate favorable outcomes for clients
  • Maintain detailed case files, ensure timely filings, and manage client communication throughout the legal process

Requirements

  • Admitted and licensed actively in NY State
  • Proven experience in immigration law with familiarity in EOIR removal defense, family-based, VAWA, T-Visa, U-Visa, Waivers, and asylum cases
  • Strong knowledge of procedural law, statutory legal research, and immigration regulations
  • Demonstrated skills in legal negotiation, litigation, and client advocacy
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting legal motions, contracts, and case summaries
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Prior law office experience with a focus on general & commercial litigation or employment law is desirable

Pay: $95,112.68 – $114,544.30 per year
