We are seeking an experienced HR Compliance Specialist to support and strengthen compliance initiatives across a fast-paced manufacturing and operations environment. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws while helping drive best practices across HR policies, employee relations, leave administration, documentation, and workplace compliance.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in employment law, hands-on HR compliance experience, and the ability to work cross-functionally with leadership, managers, and employees in a dynamic setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, maintain, and update employee handbooks, HR policies, and workplace procedures to ensure alignment with evolving labor laws and compliance standards.
  • Conduct internal HR compliance audits, including I-9 reviews, wage and hour compliance, personnel file audits, and EEO-related reporting.
  • Administer and support leave of absence processes, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation coordination, and other employee leave matters.
  • Ensure all required federal, state, and local labor law postings remain current and compliant across multiple work locations.
  • Partner with leadership and management teams to provide guidance on employee relations issues, workplace investigations, policy interpretation, and compliance-related concerns.
  • Develop and facilitate training programs related to workplace harassment prevention, diversity and inclusion, safety awareness, and HR compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and legally compliant employee records, background screening documentation, and HR files.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes while ensuring compliance with employment verification and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor changes in employment legislation and proactively recommend updates to policies, procedures, and HR practices.
  • Assist with HR reporting, compliance documentation, and audit preparation as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience with a strong focus on HR compliance, labor law, and employee relations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment regulations including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, OSHA, and related federal and state employment laws.
  • Experience managing compliance audits, leave administration, accommodations, and policy governance.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems such as ADP, Workday, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

IDEAL BACKGROUND

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, distribution, food production, or operations-driven environments is highly valued.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills strongly preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or related HR compliance certifications are highly preferred.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to balance compliance enforcement with a collaborative, employee-focused approach.
