Consilio's Direct Hire Division is seeking an HR Assistant to join one of our prestigious law firm clients in Washington, DC.

In this role, you will provide critical administrative and operational support across a broad range of Human Resources functions, helping to foster a positive employee experience while ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the HR department.

Working closely with HR leadership, you will gain exposure to key areas including onboarding, employee relations support, recruiting coordination, HR administration, employee engagement, and special projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for Human Resources inquiries, responding to employee and attorney questions and directing requests as appropriate.
  • Support new hire onboarding activities, including processing employee information in HRIS systems, completing E-Verify requirements, preparing onboarding documentation, and coordinating orientation schedules.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records in both electronic and physical formats, ensuring compliance with firm policies and applicable regulations.
  • Process employee status changes, including hires, departures, promotions, transfers, and relocations, while updating internal databases and employee directories.
  • Coordinate departmental communications related to employee lifecycle events.
  • Manage HR-related invoices, expense reports, travel arrangements, and reimbursement requests for HR leadership.
  • Assist with timesheet administration, approvals, and employee inquiries.
  • Coordinate employee recognition efforts and assist with arrangements for employee milestones, wellness initiatives, bereavement acknowledgments, and other special circumstances.
  • Support recruiting activities by posting job openings, scheduling interviews, coordinating candidate logistics, and serving as backup support for talent acquisition functions.
  • Process employment verification requests and update employee information, including address changes, emergency contacts, and other personnel data.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of firm events, training programs, HR initiatives, meetings, and employee engagement activities.
  • Maintain HR-related resources, including employee directories, intranet content, and departmental communications.
  • Gather, compile, and analyze HR data to support reporting related to retention, turnover, compensation, and other workforce initiatives.
  • Conduct research and prepare reports, presentations, and materials to support HR projects and leadership requests.
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of administrative experience, preferably within a law firm, professional services organization, or corporate environment.
  • Prior Human Resources experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms and other HR technologies.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing as a collaborative team member.
