We are seeking a motivated Legal Assistant to join our firm and support our attorneys in delivering outstanding results for our clients.

Position Overview

The Legal Assistant will play a critical role in managing cases and supporting the day-to-day operations of our law office. This position involves handling case management responsibilities for workers’ compensation and personal injury cases, ensuring efficient case progression, and providing administrative support to attorney and clients. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management:

Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all documents, correspondence, and deadlines are accurately tracked.
Monitor case progress, including scheduling hearings, depositions, mediations, and other case-related events.
Prepare and file legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests, in compliance with court rules and deadlines.
Coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, medical providers, and insurance companies to facilitate case progression.
Client Communication:
Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates on case status and answering general inquiries.
Schedule client meetings and assist with gathering necessary documentation, such as medical records and accident reports.
Administrative Support:
Draft correspondence, legal forms, and other documents under the direction of attorneys.
Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling appointments and ensuring timely preparation for court appearances.
Perform data entry and maintain accurate records in case management software.
Research and Documentation:
Assist with basic legal research, such as reviewing statutes, regulations, or case law relevant to workers’ compensation and personal injury matters.
Summarize medical records, bills, and other case-related documents to support case preparation.
Compliance and Deadlines:
Ensure compliance with procedural requirements for workers’ compensation and personal injury cases.
Track and manage critical deadlines, including statutes of limitations, discovery deadlines, and filing requirements.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field preferred. Experience can substitute.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, preferably in workers’ compensation or personal injury law.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish for interacting with clients, attorneys, and external parties.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, or similar).
Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures related to workers’ compensation and personal injury cases.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment, balancing in-office and remote responsibilities.
