A leading investment management firm based in Luxembourg is seeking a highly experienced and strategic legal professional to join as Head of Legal. This role is responsible for overseeing all legal matters related to the firm’s operations, with a particular focus on AIFs and UCITS. The Head of Legal will lead a small team of legal professionals and report directly to the General Counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert legal advice and strategic guidance on all matters related to AIFs and UCITS, including fund structuring, regulatory compliance, and cross-border distribution.
Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of a wide range of legal documents, including fund documentation, service provider agreements, and distribution contracts.
Ensure compliance with Luxembourg and EU regulatory frameworks, including CSSF requirements, AIFMD, UCITS Directive, and other applicable laws.
Liaise with regulatory authorities, external counsel, and industry bodies as needed.
Manage and mentor a small team of legal professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Support the General Counsel in broader legal and governance matters, including corporate law, risk management, and internal policies.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments and assess their impact on the firm’s operations and fund offerings.
Requirements:
Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 8-10 years of post-qualification experience, ideally gained within the investment management sector or a top-tier law firm.
Deep knowledge of Luxembourg fund structures, AIFMD, and UCITS regulations.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a legal team.
Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Fluent in English; knowledge of French, German, or Luxembourgish is an asset.
