Position Objective
The Head of Legal is responsible for overseeing legal and compliance matters for Vattanac Brewery, ensuring the company operates within the legal framework of Cambodia. This role includes reviewing and drafting legal documents, handling litigation and dispute resolution, advising departments on legal matters, and maintaining compliance with government regulations. The Head of Legal ensures that the company’s interests are protected while supporting business operations.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Legal Documentation & Government Liaison
- Draft and review legal documents and administrative letters to be submitted to relevant authorities, including the General Department of Tax, Customs, and other government agencies.
- Ensure accuracy, legal soundness, and timely submission of all regulatory correspondences.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
- Represent the company in handling legal disputes and lawsuits with external stakeholders.
- Liaise with external legal counsel and government institutions to protect the company’s legal interests.
- Monitor legal risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Legal Advisory & Research
- Conduct legal research and provide practical legal advice on matters raised by internal departments.
- Consult with arbitration centers and analyze arbitration procedures to advise on dispute resolution strategies.
- Stay current with changes in laws and regulations relevant to the company’s operations.
Contract & Compliance Review
- Review contracts, agreements, marketing materials, and internal policies to ensure compliance with Cambodian laws and internal guidelines.
- Support departments in contract drafting and negotiation to ensure legal integrity and risk mitigation.
Internal Policy Support & Legal Awareness
- Support the development and implementation of legal policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Conduct internal training sessions to promote legal awareness and compliance culture across departments.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB); Master’s degree or further certification in Cambodian Law or Business Law is an advantage.
- At least 7 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in FMCG or corporate legal practice.
- In-depth knowledge of Cambodian commercial, tax, labor, and customs laws.
- Experience in litigation, arbitration, and dealing with government authorities.
- Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
