General Counsel – Leading investment and trading firm with a global footprint
This is a senior leadership role advising directly on trading activities, regulatory strategy, corporate transactions, governance, and cross-border business expansion.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal and regulatory advice across trading, investment, and business operations.
- Advise on financial services regulations, licensing, market conduct, and cross-border activities across key jurisdictions.
- Support corporate transactions including investments, partnerships, restructurings, and regional expansion initiatives.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and trading-related agreements.
- Oversee governance, legal risk management, and regulatory engagement matters.
- Partner closely with senior leadership on business strategy, operational matters, and risk considerations.
- Manage external counsel and support dispute, employment, and intellectual property matters where required.
- Work alongside compliance and operational teams to maintain effective legal and regulatory frameworks across the business.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 10+ years’ PQE gained with relevant in-house environments preferred
- Strong background within financial services, trading, investment management, hedge funds, capital markets, or related sectors.
- Familiarity with financial services regulatory frameworks and cross-border business operations.
- Commercially minded with strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience supporting fast-paced, international, or growth-oriented businesses preferred.
- Exposure to complex commercial transactions, trading documentation, or regulatory matters would be advantageous.
