The Role

We are seeking a pragmatic, commercially-minded Head of Legal to lead the legal function for the group’s China and cross-border operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for overseeing all legal, compliance, and risk management matters, with a strong focus on international trade compliance, contract governance, and strategic transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Legal & Compliance Leadership
  • Lead the full legal function for the group, covering commercial contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies for cross-border logistics operations, including export controls, sanctions, anti-corruption, data privacy, and trade regulations.
  • Monitor and advise on legal and regulatory changes affecting the logistics and supply chain industry.
  1. Commercial & Contract Management
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including service contracts, carrier agreements, warehousing and distribution contracts, procurement agreements, and strategic partnerships.
  • Establish and maintain contract standards and playbooks to streamline legal support across business units.
  1. M&A & Strategic Transactions
  • Support M&A, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions, including due diligence, deal structuring, and post-merger integration.
  • Advise on cross-border investments, entity structuring, and regulatory approvals.
  1. Dispute Resolution & Risk Management
  • Manage litigation, arbitration, and disputes involving commercial contracts, cargo claims, employment matters, and regulatory investigations.
  • Build and manage external counsel relationships across key jurisdictions.
  1. Team Development
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing legal team.
  • Foster a culture of commercial pragmatism and proactive risk management.

What We Look For

  • 10+ years of post-qualification experience, with a mix of law firm and in-house experience.
  • Deep understanding of the logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain industry.
  • Strong track record in cross-border compliance, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution.
  • Experience with M&A, joint ventures, or IPO readiness is a strong plus.
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and spoken).
  • Pragmatic, business-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

  • Competitive base salary: RMB 800,000 – 1,200,000 per year (plus performance bonus).
