UNCLASSIFIED POSITIONS IN THE CLERK OF SUPERIOR and MAGISTRATE COURTS
*THE SALARY FOR THIS RECRUITMENT IS $55,674.00 AND IS NON NEGOTIABLE*
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in business or public administration, criminal justice, law, political science/international relations or other liberal arts degree in a related area, supplemented by two years experience in customer service, data entry, records management, administration, court/legal, law, and two years as a lead or supervisor in the areas of customer service, data entry, records management, administrative or court/legal related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and Affirmation as a sworn Deputy Clerk of the Court.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
Requires knowledge of Principles and practices of business and/or public administration. Laws, rules, and regulations governing maintenance of records and documents. Principles and practices of records management, including system design, administration, and operations. Techniques used to conduct legal research and/or statistical analyses and to locate records and documents. Digital records/image management technology and terminology. Correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. General office practices, procedures, equipment, and technology.
Requires skill in Organizing and prioritizing work. Using proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Conducting research, performing statistical and other analysis, and making recommendations. Delivering high quality, customer-focused service. Resolving problems and making decisions. Interpreting and enforcing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Conducting legal research and locating file records. Maintaining security of records and file documents. Creating and managing records management systems. Verifying and correcting filing data and records. Implementing, interpreting, and explaining records procedures Using spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation, financial/accounting and other software to gather, organize, analyze, and present information. Understanding, using, and explaining Court-specific computer applications to manage court processes, gather and analyze statistics, and create reports. Building sustainable working relationships with other County personnel, officials, and the public. Communicating effectively with coworkers, supervisor, and the public. Generating enthusiasm and support for program objectives.
Examination:
The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education, and experience as listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at time of employment, for all degrees/coursework used to qualify for this position.

Purpose of Classification:
Oversees the daily operations of an assigned unit or court support function within the court system.
Essential Functions:
This job description indicates, in general, the nature and level of work, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other essential functions (as covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act) expected of the incumbent. Supervises assigned staff, including establishing workloads, prioritizing work assignments, evaluating performance, interpreting and enforcing policies and procedures, resolving conflicts, and administering disciplinary action as required. Recommends procedural changes and assists with the design and implementation of new policies.
Prepares memorandum and letters in communication with other employees, management, and general public. Resolves issues and complaints referred by subordinate staff. Facilitates process improvement teams. Explains court policies and procedures for implementing and enforcing laws and codes in nontechnical terms.
Approves expenditures for assigned court unit, orders or oversees the procurement of unit supplies, and assists in developing a budget for an assigned court division. Audits accounting and unit work processes and prepares reports on unit activities and related court issues.
Works to continuously improve the effectiveness and efficiency of court practices, processes, and procedures. Advises the public, County officials, and attorneys of court and/or departmental guidelines. Implements changes in departmental operations due to changes in the law or court policy.

Physical Requirements:
Work is typically performed in an office-like environment. May work in high conflict situations and with difficult, sometimes dangerous parties. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, fingering, lifting, and carrying. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
