To support its fast-paced business and dynamic international sales and trading teams, the Marine Unit of the Molgas Group is looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Legal Counsel. Role & Job Environment

As Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to the marine business in all the regions of the Group. The focus will be on reviewing and drafting commercial contracts within the energy and maritime sectors, ranging from standard-form agreements to more structured deals.

In addition, you will oversee day-to-day corporate housekeeping for the Titan entities, and ensure that other business activities with legal and contractual requirements are complied with in accordance with local and international laws and regulations.

As we are growing significantly as an organization and at the Molgas Group level, there will be ample opportunities for personal growth and expanding the responsibilities of this position internationally and work with international colleagues. While operating within a Dutch and international context, you will be also part of the legal team of the Molgas group based in Madrid and will have exposure to legal matters outside of your home base in Amsterdam.

Description of tasks and responsibilities

  • Reviewing, drafting and managing commercial contracts;
  • Supporting and acting as a sparring partner for all departments;
  • Monitoring and supervising legal proceedings and directing specialized external legal counsel, acting as a bridge between them and the business;
  • Assessing the legal position of Titan and other companies of the Molgas Group engaged in the marine business in accordance with laws and regulations by providing both solicited and unsolicited legal advice;
  • Identifying deviations, contractual and financial risks or opportunities and translating them into possible changes in procedures and systems;
  • Participating in projects teams, adding the legal perspective to negotiations;
  • Optimizing and managing the KYC procedure together with Finance department;
  • Providing legal support to the compliance function within the Titan scope;Acting as corporate secretary for Titan entities in close contact with the managing directors as well as the Group Chief Legal officer for the Group based in Madrid.

Qualifications and experience

You have:

  • Completed a WO master’s degree in law, preferably in (Dutch or international) contract law or (Dutch) corporate law, and /or a specialized degree related to energy or shipping;
  • Thorough knowledge of and passion for contract law and corporate law;
  • Interest in developing a specialized knowledge of energy and shipping-related contracts and of the highly dynamic regulatory environment surrounding national and international decarbonization efforts;
  • Between 3 to 6 years of relevant work experience as a legal professional at a law firm and/or in a relevant industry, with experience in the energy (especially gas or biogas) or shipping industry being a strong plus;
  • An analytically strong, results-oriented, independent and pragmatic attitude, with an aptitude for complementing and supporting the business in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent oral and written command of the Dutch and English language.
