Position Overview
We are expanding our in-house legal team and seeking an exceptional recent graduate as a junior Legal Advisor or Legal Counsel. The candidate should demonstrate academic achievement and social engagement. The role involves working on transactional matters in technology and enterprise software, including contracts related to global employment, partnerships, and more. The position is open to applicants with a relevant degree;
extensive experience is not required. The successful candidate will collaborate with our legal team and colleagues worldwide.
Responsibilities
Report to our global general counsel.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts globally.
Provide legal support to internal teams, including sales.
Support company initiatives through cross-functional collaboration.
Manage contract data using Canonical’s system.
Coordinate with local counsel in various countries.
Candidate Requirements
Strong academic record from high school and university.
Law degree (JD or equivalent) and active license or progress towards licensure.
Drive, organization, and efficiency.
Ability to work independently and in teams.
Passion for technology demonstrated through personal projects.
Excellent English communication and drafting skills.
Confidence in sharing ideas and giving feedback.
Appreciation for diversity and multicultural environments.
Interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
Self-motivation and result-oriented attitude.
Willingness to travel twice a year for up to two weeks.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience in commercial transactions, IP, or corporate law.
Leadership skills and influence.
Understanding of open source community and values.
Knowledge of the technology industry.
Experience in in-house legal teams or law firms.
