Role Description The Government Relations Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Eastern Region. This role is responsible for building and maintaining productive relationships with local and regional government entities, regulatory bodies, and public sector stakeholders. The Government Relations Officer monitors relevant legislation, policies, and regulatory developments that may impact AFCC’s operations and projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing briefs and reports, coordinating meetings with government officials, supporting approvals and permitting processes, and representing AFCC’s interests in discussions and consultations. The role also involves collaborating with internal teams to align business strategies with regulatory requirements, contributing to advocacy initiatives, and ensuring timely communication of policy changes to leadership.
Qualifications

  • Strong government relations and public sector engagement skills, with experience navigating regulatory and policy environments.
  • Knowledge of local government structures, procedures, and decision-making processes in the Eastern Region.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships with government officials, industry bodies, and community stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Law, Business, or a related field;
  • Experience in the energy, utilities, infrastructure, or construction sectors is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Integrity, discretion, and a high level of professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in standard office software and digital collaboration tools.
  • 2-5 Years experience
