My client, is a premium tea beverage brand positioned as a “Modern Tea House.” The brand aims to revive Chinese tea culture through its vision of “Connecting the World with Oriental Tea.” They are the largest global food & beverage IPO since 2022
As part of its continued growth, the company is expanding into South Korea and is seeking an experienced Government & Public Affairs Professional to support the company’s market entry and long-term stakeholder engagement strategy.
Role Overview
The Government & Public Affairs Manager will be responsible for building trusted relationships with government stakeholders, monitoring regulatory developments, and ensuring that external communications align with the local policy environment and the company’s business objectives.
The role will work closely with the Korea leadership team and regional APAC stakeholders to establish a strong foundation for responsible growth in the Korean market.
Key Responsibilities
Government & Regulatory Engagement
- Establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, regulators, and industry stakeholders
- Monitor policy and regulatory developments that may impact the business
- Provide guidance to internal teams on regulatory risks and government engagement strategies
Public Affairs & Communications
- Support the development and execution of the company’s public affairs and media engagement strategy in Korea
- Ensure alignment between government relations, PR, and corporate messaging
- Prepare and support senior leadership for media interviews, public appearances, and external engagements
Issues & Reputation Management
- Monitor potential reputational risks and sensitive issues affecting the company
- Support the development of issue management and crisis communication strategies
- Work with regional teams to manage communications during sensitive situations
Stakeholder & Industry Engagement
- Build relationships with business chambers, industry associations, and community stakeholders
- Represent the company in relevant industry and business forums
- Identify opportunities for collaboration with local partners and stakeholders
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with Marketing, Legal, Operations, and APAC teams to ensure alignment on government engagement and communications
- Provide regular insights and updates on the regulatory and public affairs landscape in Korea
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Government Relations, Public Affairs, Corporate Affairs, or Strategic Communications
- Strong understanding of the Korean regulatory, policy, and media landscape
- Experience working with multinational companies or large enterprises
- Experience managing sensitive issues involving foreign or multinational organizations
Skills
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities
- Excellent strategic communication and media engagement skills
- Ability to operate with discretion and strong professional judgment
- Comfortable working in regional and matrix organizational environments
Preferred
- Experience in Food & Beverage, Retail, or Technology industries
- Experience supporting market entry or business expansion initiatives
