Embla Medical (Össur) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global General Counsel & VP of Corporate Governance. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic legal professional to join a global medical device company and contribute to its continued growth and success.
The Global General Counsel & VP of Corporate Governance reports to the CFO and manages Legal & Compliance, Security & Privacy, Internal Control & Risk Management as well as Insurance & Governance.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement department strategy that supports the Company’s business objectives.
Oversee the Company’s legal affairs, including legal entity management, contract management, litigation, M&A legal work and relationship management with external legal counsels.
Supervise the development and implementation of global policies and procedures that fall within the department scope.
Oversee the Company’s compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Participate in identifying and managing risks associated with the Company’s operations and strategic initiatives.
Advise the Executive Management on matters that fall within the department scope.
Serve as the secretary to the Board of Directors and its sub-committees and provide advice and support in fulfilling their responsibilities.
Lead and manage the department.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited law school.
Experience: Minimum of 15 years of legal experience, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house counsel experience.
Skills: Strong knowledge of corporate law.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams effectively.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Analytical: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset.
Ethics: High ethical standards and integrity.
Other: Ability to work in a demanding work environment and under high pressure
