Concordia is seeking an experienced General Counsel to serve as the organization’s senior legal executive and a key member of the executive leadership team.
This position will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, senior leadership and Board of Directors, providing strategic legal guidance across Concordia and its affiliated entities. What You’ll Do as General Counsel:
The General Counsel will oversee Concordia’s legal function and advise leadership on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, contracts, real estate, health care regulatory compliance, physician contracting, Stark and Anti-Kickback requirements, risk management, litigation and labor and employment matters.
Key responsibilities of General Counsel include:
- Lead the legal function, including legal staff, budgets and outside counsel
- Advise executive leadership and the Board on legal, regulatory and strategic business matters
- Lead legal aspects of acquisitions, divestitures and due diligence and review and negotiate complex agreements
- Partner with Compliance and operational leadership to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risk
- Manage significant litigation and outside counsel
- Serve as Corporate Secretary and maintain appropriate corporate records
- Monitor evolving federal and state health care laws, regulations and industry requirements
Qualifications of General Counsel:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active State Bar admission
- Ability to qualify as Limited In-House Corporate Counsel in Pennsylvania, if applicable
- 15+ years of health care legal experience
- Substantial in-house counsel experience with a health system or similarly complex health care organization
- Strong experience in health care law, corporate transactions, M&A, regulatory compliance, contract negotiations and litigation management
- Exceptional judgment, communication, negotiation and leadership skills with a high degree of ethics and integrity
