We are seeking a General Counsel with a strong background in contracts law, derivatives, capital markets, and financial regulation. As a global firm, this role can be based in either Singapore, Dubai, or New York City.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Contracts & Derivatives
Drafting & Negotiation: Prepare, review, and negotiate a range of derivatives documentation, including ISDA Master Agreements, Master Trading Agreements, Credit Support Annexes (CSAs), and related instruments.
Contract Management: Oversee trading agreements, credit facilities, and other contractual arrangements, ensuring they align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams and external counterparties to facilitate efficient contract execution and management.
Regulatory Compliance
Licensing & Compliance: Work closely with the compliance team to navigate regulatory licensing processes and maintain adherence to requirements set by authorities such as MAS, CFTC, FSA, and ADGM.
Regulatory Monitoring: Stay abreast of developments in crypto and derivatives regulations, interpreting and advising on their implications for the firm’s operations.
Market Entry Strategy: Assist in the firm’s expansion into new markets by analyzing and addressing local legal and regulatory frameworks.
The Ideal Candidate
Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree.
Admitted to the bar in a common law jurisdiction.
10+ years demonstrated success in financial products, capital markets, trading, funds, and derivatives, such as:
Working within or in close collaboration with financial regulatory bodies such as Singapore MAS, United Kingdom FCA, or United States CFTC.
Working at a well-regarded law firm in the area of capital markets, derivatives, or digital assets, showcasing the ability to navigate complex financial legal landscapes, or;
Working as an in-house legal counsel at a fund, asset manager or quantitative trading firm, indicating practical experience with trading operations and financial instruments.
Demonstrated interest in the digital assets industry and a willingness to learn rapidly.
Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
