Role Overview
As General Counsel, you will serve as the company’s chief legal advisor, overseeing all legal and compliance matters. You will work closely with leadership to navigate regulatory landscapes, manage risk, and drive business strategy while ensuring operational excellence in a fast-paced startup environment.
Responsibilities
Serve as the company’s key legal advisor, providing strategic guidance on corporate, regulatory, and transactional matters.
Oversee corporate governance, compliance, and risk management strategies.
Lead contract negotiations, M&A activities, and fundraising efforts.
Ensure compliance with state, federal, and international laws, including data privacy, employment, and intellectual property regulations.
Partner with internal teams to mitigate risk while enabling rapid growth.
Manage relationships with external counsel and legal service providers.
Develop and implement policies that align legal strategy with business objectives.
Stay ahead of emerging legal trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
J.D. from a top-tier law school and active bar membership.
15+ years of legal experience, with a mix of law firm and in-house (startup or tech company preferred).
Deep expertise in corporate law, venture financing, contracts, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
Strong negotiation skills, with experience in high-stakes deals and transactions.
Proven ability to balance legal risk with business agility in a fast-growing environment.
Experience managing external counsel and leading legal teams.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
