I am working closely with an up-and-coming, and highly prominent health and wellness brand that focuses on sports nutrition, supplements, and energy drinks. With numerous athlete ambassadors they are known globally for their products and have quickly earned a reputation for quality and customer satisfaction which has seen rapid growth in revenues and team size.

Role Overview:

They are seeking a General Counsel to report directly to the board of directors and will perform all responsibilities relating to legal services and agreements. The successful candidate will be responsible for general contract support, compliance and regulatory oversight, trademark, employment, and outside counsel management.

Key Responsibilities:

General contract support

Types of contracts: manufacturing, certification, 3PL, storage, shipping, distributors, major customers, employment, marketing, licensing, limited real estate (as it relates to the warehouse), athlete/ambassadors

Tasks: drafting, redlining, negotiating, maintaining (via CMS), analysing, assessing, providing guidance to various departments regarding terms of agreements

Compliance and regulatory oversight

Provide legal guidance on customer complaints/demand letters

Management of regulatory employees

Trademark

General internal trademark questions from marketing

Oversight of outside IP counsel (both domestic and international)

Employment

Provide legal guidance to HR

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school.

Admission to the Florida Bar (or eligibility for in-house counsel registration in Florida).

Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house counsel experience in the food & beverage or consumer goods industry.

Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and contract law.
