We’re pleased to be partnering with a fast-growing education and childcare business that’s all about giving kids the best start in life. They’ve got big plans across Australia and New Zealand and need a commercially-minded General Counsel to join their team.
You’ll work closely with the CEO and senior executives across risk, compliance, property, operations and more. There’s a strong purpose behind what they do, and they’re looking for someone who shares that passion – while also bringing sharp legal acumen and a steady hand when it comes to enterprise risk and governance.
The role will include:
Acting as General Counsel across Australia and NZ operations
Leading the legal function and managing external legal providers
Handling contracts, property leases, acquisitions, disputes, and regulatory matters
Working closely with the property team on lease and bank guarantee admin
Playing Company Secretary for the Australian arm
Driving the enterprise risk management strategy
Overseeing compliance obligations (privacy, anti-bribery, modern slavery etc.)
What they’re looking for:
A seasoned legal leader – ideally with senior in-house experience
Experience working in a regulated environment – childcare, education, health, or similar
Great communicator, commercially sharp, and confident navigating a fast-paced, purpose-led business
Happy to roll sleeves up on day-to-day legal issues while also playing a strategic role
Strong grasp of enterprise risk frameworks
Admitted to practice in Australia and holding a current certificate
