Full-time Office Coordinator – Criminal Law – Ashworth Lawyers

Ashworth Lawyers is a modern private criminal law firm based in Brisbane City, established in 2014.

We are a small, high-performing team focusing on defending serious and complex crimes in Queensland. We pride ourselves on providing high quality work, maintaining strong client relationships, and creating a professional but flexible working environment for our team.

We are currently seeking a full-time Office Coordinator to assist in the day-to-day running of the firm and support our lawyers across all aspects of practice management and legal administration.

This is not a traditional reception or administration role. The position is varied, fast-paced and suited to someone who enjoys responsibility, organisation and being involved in all aspects of a legal practice.

The role involves assisting across legal administration, client coordination, file management, operational support and the broader activities of the firm, including professional events, seminars, networking functions and other contributions we undertake within the legal profession and community.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has strong attention to detail
  • is proactive and gets things done
  • learns quickly and is flexible enough to adapt to change
  • is highly organised and reliable
  • has strong written and verbal communication skills
  • is comfortable working both independently and within a team
  • enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
  • is confident with technology and modern systems
  • presents professionally and communicates well with clients and external stakeholders

Experience within a law firm is preferred, with at least 2 years’ experience viewed favourably. Experience in criminal law will also be looked upon favourably. Strong technology skills are essential. It is also important that each team member has a strong desire for continual learning and development.

The role may also suit a law student seeking long-term involvement within a private criminal law firm. For suitable law student applicants, opportunities for court observation, client and counsel conferences, and appearance work such as mentions can be arranged.

We do not have billable hour targets. Our focus is instead on producing quality work and keeping clients happy.

We also offer flexibility for team members. All lawyers within the firm work flexibly and self-manage their time. For support roles, following the initial probationary period, a transition is available to a hybrid arrangement of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home each week.

The role may therefore suit applicants with young families or those seeking greater flexibility and autonomy in their working arrangements.

Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with experience.

If you are seeking a long-term role as part of a high-performing team with varied and interesting work, we invite you to apply.

Flexible start date.
