Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic service staff to join our team. You will be responsible for ensuring every guest feels welcome and leaves with a positive experience. From managing reservations and preparing the dining room to beverage service and closing duties — this is a hands-on role where your attention to detail, communication, and love for Japanese cuisine will shine.
Responsibilities Guest Experience
- – Provide exceptional hospitality through attentive and professional service
- – Monitor table service durations
- – Maintain a clean, safe, and inviting environment — including restrooms and walkways
- – Manage daily texts and email communication for next-day reservations
- – Greet and seat guests, handle phone inquiries with courtesy
- – Communicate and print daily menu updates
- – Coordinate with chefs and print daily run sheet
- – Promote Toro through photos and guest engagement
Daily Operations (Hostess / Server)
- – Be ready to greet guests by 4:00 PM sharp
- – Hang and store Noren, lock doors after shift, Lock outdoor tables and chairs
- – Maintain plants and granite surfaces
- – Set tables, ensure correct glassware, and tidy outdoor areas
- – Clean chairs, screw in loose parts, prep for next shift
- – Refill beverage coolers, prep mocktails, and refill soy sauce
- – Stay on the floor during service — no phone use during shifts
- – Provide beverage service: water, tea, wine, beer, sake, cocktails
- – Assist with clearing tables, wiping water spots, and organizing dishes
- – Sweep floors nightly and clean workstations
- – Charge and store restaurant devices after shift
Tip Handling
- – Participate in pooled cash tips shared fairly among staff
- – Submit tip summary at end of shift
- – Tip deductions may apply for tardiness, early departures, or missed duties
Qualifications
- – Prior restaurant experience preferred
- – Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
- – Great communication and interpersonal skills
- – Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- – Passion for Japanese cuisine and hospitality
- – Dependable and punctual
- – Japanese speaking a plus
