The Role
As Special Counsel at Eliza Legal, you will:
- Manage your own caseload of family law matters, including complex parenting and property disputes
- Provide high-level legal advice from initial consultation through to resolution
- Draft affidavits, court documents, correspondence, agreements and submissions
- Appear in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (as appropriate)
- Mentor and support junior lawyers
- Build strong, trusted relationships with clients, counsel and referrers
- Contribute positively to the culture, leadership and growth of the practice
What We’re Looking For
- Admitted Australian legal practitioner with significant experience in family law
- Accredited specialisation or post-graduate qualifications in family law are highly regarded
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex family law files autonomously, and within a team
- Strong leadership qualities, with a genuine interest in mentoring and supporting others
- Excellent drafting, advocacy, negotiation and communication skills
- High levels of professionalism, discretion and emotional intelligence
- A practical, client-focused approach to family law
- Someone who doesn’t take life too seriously and has a good sense of humour
