The Role

As Special Counsel at Eliza Legal, you will:

  • Manage your own caseload of family law matters, including complex parenting and property disputes
  • Provide high-level legal advice from initial consultation through to resolution
  • Draft affidavits, court documents, correspondence, agreements and submissions
  • Appear in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (as appropriate)
  • Mentor and support junior lawyers
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients, counsel and referrers
  • Contribute positively to the culture, leadership and growth of the practice

What We’re Looking For

  • Admitted Australian legal practitioner with significant experience in family law
  • Accredited specialisation or post-graduate qualifications in family law are highly regarded
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex family law files autonomously, and within a team
  • Strong leadership qualities, with a genuine interest in mentoring and supporting others
  • Excellent drafting, advocacy, negotiation and communication skills
  • High levels of professionalism, discretion and emotional intelligence
  • A practical, client-focused approach to family law
  • Someone who doesn’t take life too seriously and has a good sense of humour
