Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Family Law Paralegal to join our legal team. Starting pay for the position will range based on experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of family law and possess excellent organizational skills. This role is essential in supporting attorneys with various legal tasks, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and compliant with relevant regulations. The Family Law Paralegal will also assist in preparing for litigation and managing case files effectively.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents related to family law cases, including divorce petitions, custody agreements, and property settlements.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring that all documents are properly filed and easily accessible.
- Conduct legal research on family law issues, including tribal law regulations, estate planning, and workers compensation law as needed.
- Proofread legal documents for accuracy and compliance with court requirements.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on case progress.
- Prepare trial binders and assist attorneys during court proceedings as required.
- Manage deadlines and ensure timely filing of documents with the court.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a paralegal or in a similar role within a law office, focusing on family law.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Knowledge of litigation processes and familiarity with family law terminology.
- Excellent proofreading skills to ensure accuracy in all legal documents.
- Proficient in using legal research tools and software applications relevant to the field.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
