Family Law Paralegal Jobs in Allentown, PA at Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba
Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba, P.C. (FLB), one of the largest law firms in the Lehigh Valley, is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our Family Law Practice Group.
This position will work closely with our family law attorneys on matters involving divorce, equitable distribution, custody, support and related proceedings. We are looking for an experienced paralegal who understands Pennsylvania family law practice, can independently manage case details and deadlines, and communicates with clients professionally and compassionately during what are often difficult and highly personal circumstances.
This is an opportunity to take an active role in substantive case work while being an integral part of a collaborative and experienced legal team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage family law matters throughout all stages of the case, from initial intake through resolution or trial.
- Draft, proofread, format and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, correspondence and other legal documents.
- Prepare financial inventories, support calculations, asset and liability summaries and other financial materials used in family law matters.
- Coordinate and manage discovery, including drafting requests and responses, tracking deadlines, organizing document productions and maintaining discovery records.
- Maintain case calendars and monitor court dates, filing deadlines, discovery obligations and other critical case milestones.
- Prepare and coordinate court filings, including Pennsylvania electronic filings, and ensure compliance with applicable procedural requirements.
- Organize and prepare exhibits, trial notebooks, hearing materials and other case support materials.
- Assist attorneys with preparation for hearings, depositions, conferences, mediations and trials, including on-site support as needed.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on routine case matters, providing updates, gathering information and helping clients understand next steps.
- Review and organize financial records, correspondence, discovery materials and other case documents.
- Conduct factual research, background checks and investigations in support of client matters.
- Coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, experts, evaluators and other professionals involved in family law matters.
- Maintain accurate, organized and complete electronic case files and records.
- Independently manage multiple active matters while identifying issues that require attorney attention and helping move cases forward.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of substantive Pennsylvania family law paralegal experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Pennsylvania family law procedures, court rules and filing requirements.
- Experience with divorce, equitable distribution, custody and support matters.
- Hands-on experience preparing pleadings, discovery and financial materials used in family law proceedings.
- Strong drafting, proofreading, organizational and deadline-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple active cases and competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally, calmly and empathetically with clients dealing with sensitive and often stressful circumstances.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and legal practice or case management technology.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with financial records and case data accurately.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and take ownership of assigned matters while remaining part of a collaborative team.
- Paralegal certificate, associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
