By joining our Division of Driver Licensing as an Administrative Specialist Senior in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to provide high-level professional administrative support to internal staff and leadership related to an agency’s business operations.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Performs interpretation of federal and state laws, rules, regulations and departmental policy in the process of issuing, revoking, suspending, reinstating of driver licenses. Researches, evaluates and processes all records into the KY Driver License Information System (KDLIS) and Commercial Driver License Information System (CDLIS) received from instate and out of state agencies regarding KY drivers or other states’ drivers.
Processes, executes, researches and performs manual complex programs within KDLIS and CDLIS for compliance with State Traffic School, Graduated License, convictions, court summons, reversals, appeals, expungements received from Administrative Office of the Courts and other states’ court orders regarding drivers.
Plans, organizes and checks work of other employees to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Utilizes phone system in explaining laws, rules and regulations. Researches issues and gathers documents to make corrections to records, field calls from other state agencies, Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), attorneys, and other states’ courts. Trains new employees on entry of driver record documentation into KDLIS and CDLIS. Works with management to streamline processes and procedures.
Drafts letters and correspondence, researches, compiles and processes out of state conviction reports and out of state court summons. Processes clear record reports for out of state notices. Ensures delivery to appropriate jurisdiction.
Trains new employees on out of state processes and procedures.
Attends meetings with other state agencies.
Ideal candidate will have experience in:
Customer service background and willingness to work as part of a team.
Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Microsoft Office experience.
Detail oriented with an emphasis on quality of work.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
