COMPARATIVE COMPLIANCE

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking experienced police officer (EPO) candidates for the Comparative Compliance EPO Academy. Candidates should demonstrate good character, sound judgment, honesty, reliability, and integrity, with a philosophy of community-oriented policing and a strong desire to serve the citizens of Prince George’s County.

Selected candidates will attend a 23-week Comparative Compliance EPO Academy, designed to meet Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC) certification requirements. This academy is for non-Maryland certified officers, including federal, local, and out-of-state officers with at least 1.5 years of service.

The program is a professional learning environment for experienced officers, not a basic instructional academy.

Candidates must currently be certified and have at least 1.5 years of full-time police experience. Typical duties include responding to calls, maintaining order, enforcing laws, report writing, courtroom presentation, and providing service to the community. Shift work is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently certified as a Police Officer with at least 18 months of experience

U.S. Citizen

High School diploma (60+ college credits preferred)

Valid driver’s license

Pass a comprehensive background check, including review of Internal Affairs files, oral interview, polygraph, psychological and medical evaluations

Meet all other qualification criteria

Graduation from the academy
