We are seeking a highly experienced Eviction Paralegal specializing in California Landlord-Tenant Law to join our dynamic legal team. This pivotal role involves supporting attorneys through every stage of eviction proceedings, ensuring compliance with state-specific regulations, and providing exceptional legal support to facilitate efficient case management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in landlord-tenant disputes, possess excellent organizational skills, and demonstrate a proactive approach to legal research and document preparation. Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in preparing and filing eviction notices, unlawful detainers, and related pleadings in accordance with California landlord-tenant statutes.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on landlord-tenant laws, procedural requirements, and relevant case law using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools.
  • Manage case files using iManage and other document management systems, ensuring all documents are accurately organized, reviewed, and maintained.
  • Interview clients, tenants, landlords, and witnesses to gather pertinent information for case development while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, declarations, discovery requests, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
  • Coordinate with court personnel for hearings, process serving agencies for document delivery, and track case deadlines diligently.
  • Support project management tasks related to multiple eviction cases simultaneously while adhering to strict procedural timelines.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, proofreading documents, and managing client communications with professionalism and courtesy.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of California landlord-tenant law and eviction procedures.
  • Proven paralegal experience supporting civil litigation or landlord-tenant cases with a focus on eviction proceedings.
  • Strong research skills utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research platforms.
  • Proficiency in legal case management software including PCLaw and iManage; familiarity with document review and legal drafting tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Effective interviewing techniques coupled with superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience handling confidential information with integrity while maintaining compliance with privacy standards.
  • Knowledge of procedural law requirements specific to California courts; familiarity with UCC law, family law, workers’ compensation law or other areas is a plus but not required.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for document preparation and data management; experience with Westlaw or LexisNexis for legal research is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail in proofreading legal documents; ability to handle litigation support tasks such as document review and filing accurately.
