About The Role

As we continue to grow and expand our capacity to deliver high-end legal services, we are seeking an experienced lawyer to join our Banking & Finance team.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take an active role in market-leading banking and finance transactions, assume responsibility for significant transaction workstreams and work directly with clients, while contributing to the development of junior lawyers and the continued growth of our Finance practice.

As a member of our Finance practice group, you will

  • Work on a broad range of sophisticated banking and finance matters, including corporate finance, project finance, acquisition finance, bond issuances, NPL transactions and securitisations
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of practice-specific legal and transactional issues and prepare first drafts of transaction documents for review and finalisation by senior lawyers. These may include loan agreements, bond loan programmes and security documents, as well as loan portfolio sale agreements and servicing agreements in NPL and securitisation transactions, and Greek law capacity and enforceability legal opinions across different types of financings
  • Research complex legal and regulatory issues and prepare legal memoranda and advice tailored to specific client matters
  • Navigate complex legal and transactional issues and provide clients with practical, commercially focused legal advice
  • Take ownership of significant workstreams and increasingly complex projects, with direct client contact and a high degree of autonomy, while working closely with senior members of the team
  • Actively participate in client meetings, conference calls and transaction negotiations, prepare and maintain key issues lists, and contribute substantively on practice-specific matters
  • Manage legal due diligence workstreams as part of broader financing and other transactions, coordinating the review process and ensuring that key findings are appropriately identified and addressed in the transaction
  • Coordinate and review the work of junior associates and trainees, contribute actively to their development and act as a reference point for junior members of the team and peers
  • Develop exposure to broader legal and transactional matters beyond the Finance practice, working collaboratively with lawyers across the firm where transactions require multidisciplinary expertise
  • Contribute actively to the business development of the Finance practice, including through conferences, seminars, client initiatives, publications and articles

Requirements

The successful candidate should have:

  • Qualification to act as Greek lawyer through Greek law degree and bar admission;
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in banking and finance transactions
  • An LLM related to Banking & Finance and/or commercial law”
  • Strong knowledge of the legal, regulatory and procedural aspects of financing transactions, including transaction formalities, processes and timetables
  • Advanced legal research, analytical and transaction-document drafting skills
  • A very good understanding of market developments, transaction structures and business trends relevant to banking and finance
  • A sound understanding of accounting and financial principles relevant to financing transactions and legal practice
  • The ambition and commitment to develop into a highly qualified and recognised Banking & Finance practitioner
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, counterparties and colleagues
  • Strong organisational and project-management skills, with close attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines
  • A practical, commercial and solution-oriented approach to legal issues
  • A strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • A positive attitude, collaborative mindset and strong team spirit
  • Excellent command of business and legal English, both written and spoken
