Position Summary
Pierce County is looking for a dedicated Clerk of Superior Court who has:
Deep knowledge of Superior Court Clerk operations, including court recordkeeping, Pretrial Services, mandatory arbitration, and legal financial management such as fee collection, disbursement, and restitution.
Skilled in navigating complex labor environments, supervising within collective bargaining agreements, and fostering productive relationships across the justice system and government agencies.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff through clear expectations, training, coaching, and strong performance and change management practices.

Clerk of Superior Court Department Highlights:
Mission and Vision: The Clerk of the Superior Court safeguards the integrity and accuracy of Superior Court case records while delivering exceptional service with fairness, accuracy, and respect. The office envisions accurate records, informed customers, and a knowledgeable, respectful staff.
Core Services: Responsible for all Superior Court filings and legal financial transactions, the Clerk also performs quasi-judicial duties, including issuing writs, subpoenas, and warrants.
Programs and Impact: The office manages over 40,000 cases and 800,000 documents annually, and oversees Pretrial Services, which provides custody screenings and monitors individuals awaiting trial.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or records management.
Six years of responsible supervisory experience and the ability to meet all requirements imposed by RCW Chapter 36.23 is required.
Must have extensive knowledge of governmental records management, fee collection, and Page 2 disbursement.
Education and experience which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the classification may substitute.
Preferred Qualifications:
Related experience in the state of Washington is preferred but not required.
