JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Tax Executive is responsible for managing and supporting EPF's domestic and international tax compliance, tax advisory, and tax governance activities. The role involves reviewing tax implications arising from EPF's investment, operational, and strategic activities, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions, and providing timely tax solutions to internal stakeholders.

The incumbent will work closely with across finance functions, investment division, external tax advisors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure that EPF maintains a strong tax governance framework while optimising tax efficiency and mitigating tax risks. The role also supports emerging tax requirements including Global Minimum Tax (GMT), withholding tax, transfer pricing, capital gains tax, stamp duty, and other international tax developments.

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES

Tax Compliance

  • Prepare, review and coordinate statutory tax filings, including:
  • Income Tax Returns (Form TF/C)
  • SST Returns (SST-02A)
  • Withholding Tax submissions
  • Capital Gains Tax (CGT) filings
  • Real Property Gains Tax (RPGT) filings
  • Global Minimum Tax (GMT) reporting
  • Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR)
  • Ensure timely submission of tax returns and compliance obligations.
  • Monitor tax law changes and assess compliance implications on EPF's operations and investments.
  • Support tax audits, investigations and enquiries from tax authorities.

Tax Advisory

  • Review and provide tax input on domestic and global investment structures.
  • Analyse tax implications relating to:
  • Corporate tax
  • Withholding tax
  • Transfer pricing
  • Capital gains tax
  • Indirect taxes
  • Treaty benefits
  • Review investment documentation such as limited partnership agreements, subscription agreements and financing arrangements from a tax perspective.
  • Prepare tax reports and recommendations for management and investment committees.
  • Coordinate and review advice received from external tax advisors.

Tax Governance & Risk Management

  • Perform tax risk assessments and ensure adherence to EPF's tax governance framework.
  • Maintain and update tax policies, procedures, manuals and internal guidelines.
  • Support implementation and monitoring of Tax Corporate Governance initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation and digitalisation of tax processes.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain transfer pricing documentation, tax position papers and supporting records.
  • Manage tax recoveries and foreign tax reclaim applications.
  • Monitor and analyse tax costs associated with EPF's domestic and international investments.
  • Prepare management reports, presentations and technical papers on tax matters.

Stakeholder Management

  • Conduct tax awareness and knowledge-sharing sessions for employees.
  • Support strategic projects and initiatives undertaken by the Tax Unit.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Communication – Be able to write and communicate in English and Bahasa Melayu fluently.
  • High thinking capabilities & conceptualisation – able to form a concept of ideas or opinion out of observation, data, experience etc. and conclude logically, anticipating obstacles and considers different approaches to the decision making process.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Malaysian citizen
  • Pass Malay Language including oral test at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematic or other related professional qualification.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, MICPA, ICAEW, CIMA, CTIM or equivalent is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 4–7 years of relevant experience in taxation, preferably covering both tax compliance and tax advisory (experience in tax from Big 4 accounting firm in Malaysia would be an added advantage).
  • Exposure to international taxation, withholding tax, transfer pricing, investment taxation and/or multinational organisations is preferred.
  • Experience dealing with external tax advisors and regulatory authorities would be advantageous.
