Position Summary
The Estate & Legal Specialist is an integral member of the wealth planning team and a subject matter expert in support of our Wealth Advisors. While Tanglewood does not draft legal documents or provide legal advice, the specialist is responsible for the review and analysis of a client’s estate plan for alignment with their goals, facts and circumstances. The specialist will oversee and participate in the delivery of multi-generational estate planning, philanthropy, family governance, trust administration and estate settlement for our high-net-worth family and business owner clients. This person may also serve as a resource for other legal matters relating to the firm or client’s needs.
Primary Responsibilities
Review and advise internally on various agreements and entity formation documents provided by the client.
Stay abreast of laws, regulations and court cases that impact our areas of planning.
Bring a “planning mindset” as to potential client benefits.
Participate in estate planning review meetings and prospect meetings, when appropriate.
Oversee the use of firm resources to illustrate and educate clients regarding current plans and alternate strategies.
Provide support and guidance to clients and/or heirs for trust administration and estate settlement process.
Provide education and training within the firm to broaden the collective knowledge base.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of experience with multi-generational estate planning, trust administration and estate settlement for high-net-worth family and business owner clients.
J.D. Required. LL.M. In Taxation Preferred.
Proven client relationship skills to develop client trust for deeper insight and understanding of client needs and family dynamics.
Must possess integrity, empathy, accuracy, and excellent problem-solving and time management skills. Exceptional oral and written communication skills are critical.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software suite. Familiarity with industry tech like Vanilla, Holistiplan, RightCapital. eMoney, and Salesforce is advantageous, but not required.
