Job Title: Environment, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) Officer

Location: BGC, Taguig office with field work

Contract: 12 months (renewable)

Reports to: External Affairs/ Dev and (later Operations)

Job Summary

The EHSS Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring programs that ensure compliance with environmental, occupational health and safety, and security regulations. The role safeguards employees, contractors, assets, and surrounding communities while promoting a culture of safety, sustainability, and risk awareness.

Key Responsibilities

1. Environment (E)

  • Ensure compliance with Philippine environmental laws (e.g., DENR regulations, ECC conditions)
  • Monitor environmental performance (air, water, waste, noise)
  • Oversee waste management programs and pollution control measures
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports (SMRs, CMRs, etc.)
  • Support sustainability and ESG initiatives

2. Health & Safety (HS)

  • Implement occupational health and safety programs in line with DOLE standards
  • Conduct risk assessments (HIRA/JHA) and recommend mitigation measures
  • Lead incident/accident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and enforce safety protocols
  • Conduct safety orientations, drills, and trainings
  • Maintain safety records and ensure compliance with reporting requirements

3. Security (S)

  • Develop and implement site security protocols and emergency response plans
  • Coordinate with security agencies and local authorities
  • Monitor access control, surveillance systems, and incident reporting
  • Conduct threat and vulnerability assessments
  • Ensure protection of company assets, personnel, and facilities

4. Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to local and international EHSS standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
  • Liaise with government agencies such as DENR, DOLE, LGUs, and law enforcement
  • Work with ExRel and site team in maintaining good stakeholder relations
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Maintain EHSS documentation and permits

5. Training & Culture Building

  • Promote a strong safety culture across the organization
  • Conduct EHSS trainings and toolbox meetings
  • Develop awareness campaigns on environmental protection and workplace safety

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field
  • At least 2–5 years of experience in EHSS, preferably in energy, construction, or industrial sectors
  • Site-based with possible field exposure and may require travel to project sites

Skills & Competencies Required

  • Strong knowledge of Philippine EHSS laws and regulations
  • Risk assessment and incident investigation skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Safety Officer (SO2/SO3) accreditation (DOLE)
  • Pollution Control Officer (PCO) accreditation (DENR)
  • Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) / COSH
  • First Aid & Emergency Response Training
