ECVC / Corporate Associate [Junior to Senior] @ Remote-Friendly Startup Law Firm Jobs in United States at Whistler Partners
Title: ECVC / Corporate Associate [Junior to Senior] @ Remote-Friendly Startup Law Firm
Company: Whistler Partners
Location: United States
Overview
Whistler Partners is working with a startup-focused law firm looking to add corporate associates across multiple levels. The firm has two current needs: a junior associate in Los Angeles or California, and a midlevel to senior associate who can be based anywhere and work fully remote.
The practice advises startups, emerging companies, founders, investors, and growth-stage businesses on a broad range of corporate matters, including venture financings, M&A, company formation, governance, commercial transactions, and day-to-day outside general counsel work.
This is a strong opportunity for an ECVC or corporate associate who wants sophisticated startup and venture work in a more flexible, modern law firm environment.
Why This Role?
This is a compelling opportunity for someone who likes working with founders, startups, investors, and high-growth companies, but does not want the traditional BigLaw version of that practice forever. The firm is looking for lawyers who can step into meaningful responsibility and work closely with clients on real business issues. For the junior need, the firm is looking for someone with strong early corporate training who wants to build in the startup and venture ecosystem. For the midlevel to senior need, the firm would ideally like someone with real ECVC experience who can operate with more independence and help support a busy emerging companies practice. The midlevel role is fully remote and can pay up to $400,000 for the right candidate. Strong M&A profiles will also be considered, especially for candidates interested in moving more directly into emerging companies and venture work. For someone who wants startup work, client contact, flexibility, and a real path to grow inside a high-quality corporate practice, this is a very strong seat.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent startups, emerging companies, founders, investors, and growth-stage businesses on corporate matters.
- Support venture financings, equity transactions, M&A transactions, company formations, and governance matters.
- Draft and negotiate financing documents, corporate agreements, board and stockholder materials, and related transaction documents.
- Advise clients on day-to-day corporate and outside general counsel matters.
- Work directly with partners, clients, and deal teams on startup and venture-related matters.
- Manage deal workstreams and support transactions from start to finish.
- Help clients navigate corporate growth, fundraising, strategic transactions, and general business needs.
About You
- 1–2 years of corporate experience for the junior need.
- 4–8 years of corporate experience for the midlevel to senior need.
- Real ECVC experience strongly preferred for midlevel to senior candidates.
- Strong M&A profiles will also be considered.
- Experience with startups, venture financings, emerging companies, private company M&A, or general corporate matters preferred.
- Strong drafting, communication, and client-service skills.
- Ability to work directly with partners, clients, and internal teams.
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving, founder-facing practice.
- Interest in startup, venture, and high-growth company work.
TL;DR
Startup-focused law firm hiring corporate associates across levels. Junior need for a 1st–2nd year associate in Los Angeles or California. Midlevel to senior need for a 4th–8th year ECVC or strong M&A associate who can be fully remote. Strong fit for someone who wants startup and venture work, meaningful client contact, flexibility, and sophisticated corporate matters outside a traditional BigLaw structure.
