INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PARALEGAL

Summary – The Paralegal is responsible for handling projects related to and preparation and filing of patent, trademark, and copyright applications, trademark clearance searches, managing patent and trademark dockets, document organization and/or retrieval, and correspondence with clients regarding the same. The workload will vary based on client needs and Firm assignments. Domestic and international intellectual property prosecution and trademark litigation knowledge and experience is required, including the deadline tracking of the various patents of the Firm’s clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
· Assist attorneys in all stages of patent and trademark law, including applications, registrations, renewals, maintenance, and inter-party proceedings
· Assist with the docketing of deadlines for the patents and trademarks held by the Firm’s clients
· Assist attorneys in all states of copyright law, including applications and registrations
· Conduct statutory, case law and fact research under the supervision of a lawyer for the Firm
· Search U.S. Patent Trademark Office (USPTO) and other intellectual property databases, review dockets, and resolve data discrepancies
· Proofread prepared documents; draft and/or review legal documents (including preparing office action responses), correspondence, and other factual memoranda under the supervision of a lawyer for the Firm
· Conduct file searches and assist with document review and other tasks related to producing electronic and hard copy documents
· Review and organize documents to be filed with state or federal courts as well as government or administrative agencies, conduct filings
· Assist with Firm administrative projects and tasks.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
· 2-4 years of direct patent and trademark paralegal experience
· Associate degree in Paralegal Studies; bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Understand legal concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures, and possess knowledge of legal reference materials.
· Outstanding organization, administrative, and communication (oral and written) skills.
· High attention to detail, strong work ethic and self-motivated.
· Knowledge of state and federal rules and experience collaborating with foreign associates on international intellectual property matters
· Ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong skills in PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and various legal software.
In office work schedule is four days per week.

Pay: $78,000.00 – $88,000.00 per year
