## Legal Assistant Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our team in a relaxed, small firm atmosphere. The ideal candidate will have an interest and experience in civil litigation, mostly on the defense side, and time and billing. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with experienced lawyers in an established firm and gain valuable experience.
## Legal Assistant Responsibilities
– Assist attorneys in preparing pleading, motions and briefs, through transcribing dictation and creating documents using Word, templates, forms, etc.
– Handle electronic filing and service of pleadings and discovery in state and federal courts
– Manage and organize legal files and documents
– Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness
– Support attorneys during trials, hearings, and client meetings
– Draft correspondence and communicate with clients as needed
– Time and billing and light bookeeping
## Legal Assistant Qualifications
– High school diploma
– Proven experience working in a legal setting or as a Legal Assistant
– Experience in creating legal pleadings, motions, briefs and other documents, using proper case citations and legal terminology
-Familiarity with case management systems
– Proficiency in using tools such as Word, Microsoft Outlook, Mac OS, Dropbox and other file sharing applications, and Timeslips or other time and billing software preferred.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills
