As the most senior internal legal officer, you will be responsible for shaping QRIC’s legal and regulatory strategy, leading the legal team and ensuring integrity, compliance and governance excellence.
About The Role
As the most senior internal legal officer, you will be responsible for shaping QRIC’s legal and regulatory strategy, leading the legal team and ensuring integrity, compliance and governance excellence. Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner, your key responsibilities will:
Leading legal oversight, governance and prosecutions to ensure QRIC operates with transparency and integrity
Developing legal strategies and frameworks to enhance regulatory effectiveness
Providing authoritative legal advice on complex and sensitive matters
Driving capability development and strategic policy initiatives across QRIC
Leading legal proceedings, including Racing Appeals Tribunal cases and key regulatory actions
Partnering with government, Crown Law and industry bodies to strengthen legal governance.
About You
You are a senior legal professional with a minimum of 10 years post-admission experience, in regulatory enforcement, litigation, governance or public sector law. You will bring:
Strong expertise in regulatory law, governance and compliance
Leadership experience in public sector or statutory body environments
Exceptional stakeholder management skills, including working with government and industry regulators
A strategic mindset with the ability to drive continuous improvement in legal processes
The ability to operate at pace, balancing hands-on legal work with high-level strategic advisory functions.
