Court House Security, Service on federal and tribal task forces, Inmate transport, Community programs, Investigations, K-9 Patrol, and many other opportunities. The duties of a Deputy Sheriff are mandated by federal, state, county, and agency regulations. The job requires that applicants be able to perform a variety of basic deputy sheriff duties in the field of law enforcement.

Note:

The Deputy Sheriff position currently works in 12-hour shifts.

Duties

Takes appropriate action in emergency situations in accordance with established policies.

Serves warrants and makes arrests.

Maintains order in any assigned courtroom and on the premises of the Detention Center and provides security from disruption and violence.

Executes and returns civil and criminal process.

Gives testimony in court on actions taken during arrests and investigations in criminal matters.

Transports, by vehicle, inmates, and other individuals in custody.

Performs routine law enforcement duties as required (e.g., traffic enforcement, accident response and investigation, criminal investigations, etc.)

Maintains complete and accurate records and prepares clear and concise reports.
