SUMMARY
The Right of Way Coordinator role provides prompt, efficient and reliable work within the Right of Way department. This role also helps promote a high standard of morale and team effort for greater job satisfaction. This position coordinates with the Power Supply Managers, Lead Lineman, Right of Way Contractors, Member Services, System Operations, Engineering Staking Manager and others. The VM Contractors report to the ROW Coordinator and he/she reports to the Construction and Maintenance Program Manager.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Schedule the day-to-day operations of the VM crews in their district in accordance with GEC procedures, policies and safety regulations.
Coordinate with the VM Crew Foreman to plan a daily schedule which will utilize manpower, equipment, and materials as effectively and productively as possible.
Make recommendations to GEC management for additional help where it could be utilized.
Perform personally, the following:
o Plan the work locations of the VM crews on the GEC system as to timing, methods, and operations to ensure trim cycles are completed on schedule and concurrent with the Strategic Work Plan and System Restoration
o Receive, assign, perform and/or direct work from GEC management.
o Complete daily time sheets and on time paperwork
o Maintain an attitude of respect for the public and GEC members
o Be familiar with all power operated equipment and hand tools used in VM activities
o Ensure all appropriate safety regulations are followed by working with the supervisor in charge of contractors
o Prompt response and resolution to member reported problems or issues concerning VM activities, as well as keeping the GEC Managers informed of all problems and solutions
o Manage vegetation control at all GEC substations through the use of herbicides and/or manual removal as required
Positively promote GEC programs such as: Safety, System Restoration, Strategic Planning, Surge Protection, Outdoor Lighting, etc.
Responsible for the safety of oneself and that of others, by knowing his/her job, assessing the locational hazards and giving them his/her complete attention.
Remain knowledgeable and familiar with GEC’s safety manual, policies, procedures and all applicable OSHA rules and regulations.
Participate in all safety programs and assist in the training of subordinates.
Follow all safety rules, policies, work practices and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
By virtue of education, experience, knowledge, ability, skill or personal attributes, applicants for this position should meet the following specifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Project management experience as well as experience managing multiple tasks and/or crews.
Knowledge: Applicant should be familiar with all aspects of maintaining right of way, tools, equipment safety procedures, and environmental regulations.
Leadership/Motivational Skills: Should exhibit ability to lead others through means that are compatible with a positive working environment. Motivation and team building abilities are essential.
Ability & Skill: Skilled in meeting and dealing with members/customers; and ability to plan and implement schedules.
Must be able to work flexible and/or abnormal working hours. Will be required to be on stand-by and work overtime regularly. Volume of overtime varies.
Must have training in First Aid and CPR
Must represent the company in a professional manner, be a productive team member and have a positive impact on the morale of others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
On a frequent basis: lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 pounds, bending at the waist, gripping tools and objects, stretching or reaching, kneeling, standing, sittings, walking, crouching, twisting (rotating body while in a sitting position), twisting (rotating body while in a standing position), grasping or gripping (to grasp with thumb in opposition to fingers or palm), driving automobile equipment and working alone.
Starting pay for this position is $26.12/hr minimum.
