Legal Assistant Opening
Prominent Des Moines law firm is seeking specialized legal assistant to provide support to attorneys in the firm, practicing primarily in Banking and Corporate Law. This individual will work under the supervision of one or more attorneys to provide support in assigned legal matters. The perfect candidate will –
Be experienced in the following areas:
Greet clients and perform initial screening
Produce, proofread and file various legal documents
Prepare and distribute invoices to bill clients or pay account expenses
Assist with recording billable hours
Facilitate the meeting of deadlines by maintaining multiple agendas and providing timely reminders
Make and schedule appointments
Docket court deadlines
Ability to navigate Secretary of State website
Transcription and dictation
Provide support to one or more attorneys
Attend client meetings as required
And excel in the following skills:
Effective communicator – written and oral
Active Listener
Highly organized
Solid time management skills
Knowledge of MS Office and ability to work with legal technology
Skilled at preparing Power Point presentations
Legal document management
Proven experience as a legal assistant
Educational Requirements: High School diploma, or equivalent.
Work Experience: 2+ years’ legal support experience preferred; 2+ years’ experience working with attorneys in the specific practice area highly preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 – $35.00 per hour
