Position: Data Protection Officer
Job Purpose: A Data Protection Officer (DPO) ensures that an Organisation complies with local data protection laws and regulations based on countries of operation like US, Europe, Singapore, India, etc.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and controls to comply with global data protection regulations.
Working with key internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with local data privacy laws, and complete and advise on privacy impact assessments.
Serving as the primary point of contact and liaison with local Data Protection Authorities on all data protection related matters.
Coordinating and conducting data privacy audits on timely basis.
Communicate data protection policies and procedures to employees. Developing and delivering data privacy training to various business functions.
Manage data breaches, incidents, and notifications to regulatory authorities and quickly liaise with local authorities to close on the gaps, if any.
Implement and maintain data protection technologies (e.g., encryption, access controls).
Ensuring that the Company’s IT systems and procedures comply with all relevant data privacy and protection law, regulation and policy.
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong knowledge of data privacy and data protection regulations and a good understanding of other major privacy frameworks and evolving legislation worldwide.
Sufficient knowledge of information technology and data management systems required.
Ability to interact effectively with people at all Organisational levels. Need good analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experience of working in a global Organisation.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion.
Work Experience:
The candidate should have minimum of 5 years of experience in data protection, compliance, or information security.
Experience with data protection frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in law, Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification.
