Why does this job exist and why is it critical?

The Data Privacy Specialist is responsible to assist the Head of Data Privacy in embedding Personal Data Privacy and Protection into relevant business processes and operations in Maxis Group of Entities and oversees the compliance of Personal Data by the business units in accordance with the relevant personal data privacy and protection laws.

What are you accountable for?

Review Divisional & Departmental operational process & workflow processing Personal Data across Maxis Group of Entities to ensure compliance with the PDPA & Maxis Group Data Privacy & Protection Policy and supporting procedures

Perform business & GTM advisories for stakeholders

Conduct investigation into alleged personal data breach incidents together with the relevant personal data processing department & other relevant stakeholders

Roll-out Divisional and Departmental Annual PDPA-Compliance Check & Operational Compliance Attestation to the Group Data Privacy & Protection Policy through automation/digital form established by the Head of Data Privacy, conduct gap analysis and ensure remedial actions until closure by the relevant Division/Department

Trigger the Bi-Annual (May and Nov) Departmental Third-Party Disclosure List with corresponding Systems/Applications Processing Personal Data Updates and review the updates with CSM and highlight any potential red-flags

Conduct PDPA training and awareness for Maxis appointed Distributors, Dealers, HFS and HIAs

Monitor and follow-up with the relevant Division/Department regarding any PDPA non-compliance findings from Departmental Annual PDPA-Compliance Check & Operational Compliance Attestation or Ad-Hoc Compliance Check by DPO or Audit conducted by IA and submit monthly status report to the Head of Data Privacy until gap has been remediated by the Division/Department

Manage the handling of Data Subject Requests by the relevant Division/Department to ensure correct and timely responses.

What do you need to have for this role?

Candidate must possess at least a Diploma in Compliance and Corporate Governance or Diploma/Degree in Law or any other relevant Degree with the ability to read and interpret regulatory requirements and have interests in advisory work and process improvement

Strong understanding in national and global data privacy and protection regulations and practices

Good communication & interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders
