Job Description
This position is responsible for providing administrative support for attorneys and other assigned staff of the Dallas County Attorney’s Office.
Job Duties
Answers the phone and greets visitors at the reception window; provides information and assistance or directs callers/visitors to appropriate staff or office.
Performs general administrative duties including but not limited to: processes incoming and outgoing mail, scanning, and interoffice and electronic filing.
Opens and assigns new cases in data management system to legal staff and attorneys.
Updates and maintains cases in data management system for all assigned attorneys and ensures legal deadlines are entered in database and met by attorney.
Prepares and distributes weekly reports to attorneys and court personnel.
Organize and manage legal discovery including requesting, reviewing, sending to opposing counsel and disposition of the evidence.
Processes requests for County Attorney Subpoena from law enforcement agencies.
Manages the administrative functions of the Collections program including but not limited to, setting up payment plans and license reinstatement plans, mail correspondence, manage collections received, communicate with defendant as needed, etc.
Provides back-up for co-workers as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent.
One to two years work related experience in a legal or office environment.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Knowledge of the criminal justice and civil law processes.
Knowledge of litigation and document management software.
Knowledge of legal office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of legal terminology.
Knowledge of court policies and procedures.
Knowledge of confidential records management principles.
Skill in meeting internal and external deadlines.
Skill in organization, time management and prioritization of assigned work.
Skill in interpersonal relations.
Skill in effective, professional, tactful and confident oral and written communication.
Skill in operating computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in Microsoft Office and Adobe programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVRONMENT
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity and distinguishes between shades of color.
The work is typically performed in an office.

Full-time employees are defined as those that are regularly scheduled to work at least 40 hours per week. Full-time employees are eligible for benefits at the 1st of the month following their first 30 days as a Dallas County employee, unless otherwise noted.

Sick time – Regular, full-time employee accrual at 5.54 hours/pay period (144 hours/year); Regular, full-time, 24 or 48 hour shift EMS employee accrual at 7.75 hours/pay period (201.6 hours/year)
Employee Assistance Program – Premium fully paid by the County
AFLAC Supplemental Policies – Premium fully paid by the employee
County sponsored insurance premiums are pre-tax withholdings.
Part time workers do not qualify for insurance unless necessary qualifications are met, however, part-time employees may qualify for IPERS.
