Legal Aid Ontario is seeking an Articling Student for a full-time role based at the Kingston Courthouse. This position offers exposure to duty counsel services in both criminal and family courts. You’ll assist unrepresented clients, draft essential documents, and gain valuable courtroom experience while supporting LAO’s social justice mission.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide duty counsel services in criminal court
• Assist with family court drafting and case preparation
• Conduct interviews with clients and sureties
• Facilitate communication between counsel and the Crown
• Support client meetings and observe courtroom presentations
Requirements:
• Eligible to undertake articles in Ontario
• Commitment to social justice and public interest work
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Interest in criminal and family law
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and video conferencing tools
