About the Role
We are hiring an Associate Criminal Defense Attorney to join our trial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent law school graduate or newly licensed attorney — including candidates who have just passed the bar exam or are awaiting bar results — to gain hands-on courtroom experience under the mentorship of experienced trial attorneys. You’ll be involved in every stage of the criminal defense process, from client intake through trial, with real responsibility and real growth potential.
What You’ll Do
- Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal matters at hearings, arraignments, and trials
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and pleadings
- Prepare for and assist with witness examinations, case strategy, and trial preparation
- Meet with clients to review case details, explain legal options, and provide regular case updates
- Negotiate with prosecutors on plea agreements and case resolutions
- Maintain organized case files, timelines, and documentation for active matters
- Collaborate closely with senior attorneys and support staff on case strategy
What We’re Looking For
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Genuine interest in criminal defense and trial work
- Admitted to practice in Arkansas, or actively awaiting bar exam results / admission (recent bar-passers strongly encouraged to apply)
- Strong research, writing, and verbal advocacy skills
- Ability to manage a caseload independently while collaborating with a team
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with clients, often in high-stress situations
- Prior internship, clerkship, or clinic experience in criminal law is a plus, but not required
