Court of Protection Paralegal Sheffield | Competitive Salary  Benefits A well-established and highly regarded law firm is looking to recruit a Court of Protection Paralegal to join its supportive Private Client team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Paralegal, Legal Assistant or experienced Case Handler with exposure to Court of Protection, Private Client or a similar legal environment who is looking to develop their career within a specialist and client-focused team.

The successful candidate will support solicitors and professional deputies with the management of a varied caseload, assisting vulnerable clients who lack capacity to manage their own property and financial affairs. You will play an important role in ensuring clients receive a high standard of service while supporting the team with the day-to-day running of deputyship matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the management of Court of Protection deputyship files from start to finish Preparing Court of Protection applications, correspondence and supporting documentation Liaising with clients, family members, care providers, local authorities, financial institutions and other professionals Assisting with the administration of clients’ financial affairs, including budgeting, payments, banking and maintaining accurate records Supporting the preparation of Office of the Public Guardian reports and ensuring compliance with deputyship obligations Maintaining accurate case management records and ensuring files are kept up to date Providing a compassionate and professional service to clients and their families Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Private Client team

About You:

Previous experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant or Case Handler within Court of Protection, Private Client or a related legal setting is desirable Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Court of Protection processes would be advantageous Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate work Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships with clients and external stakeholders A proactive and empathetic approach, with a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable clients Strong administrative skills and confidence dealing with financial records Able to work independently while contributing positively to a supportive team environment What’s on
